Lizzie Fry, portrait

Lizzie Fry

My paintings are rooted in the working coast - the places where the sea meets everyday life. I draw inspiration from working dockyards, harbour walls, lighthouses and the people, tools and materials that shape coastal communities.

Working primarily in watercolour and ink, I paint quickly and instinctively, responding to the movement and atmosphere of each subject. Rather than aiming for precise representation, I seek to capture the character of the place and the beauty of ordinary coast life.

My recent work focuses on fishing nets, fish and other familiar sights from the shores, harbours and coastal communities and towns.
